Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 40 days ago I had a major surgery and since then I have had an extended stomach that seems to with time go down. It is hard and very pushed out which for me is not normal. I have lost about 14 lbs since the surgery due to not being able to move. I just got off my pain pills about one week ago and can not sleep on my back so I sleep sitting up. Is there something wrong with my stomach or is this normal? Is there anything I can do to make this go away?
Which surgery you undergone? What do you mean by extended stomach? Is it you became obese? Usually, after surgery immobility and increased food intake may cause obese.
You may be developed temporary muscle underused atrophy lead to weakness and back pain. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
