Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a blood test done yesterday and the doctor said I have anemia and abnormal liver. He advised me to eat lots of iron-containing foods for the anemia. He said abnormal liver can be caused by eating raw fish and too much alcohol which do not pertain to me at all. I went back online to research the side effects of Atenolol which I am currently taking for high blood pressure. I need advice on what to do now. Thanks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hello sir. Thanks for your query. Atenolol is antihypertensive medication as you rightly mentioned.Atenolol is not known to cause anemia. However the underling cause of anemia(kidney function, nutritional deficiency) has to evaluated.Hope this answers your query.
