My ankle for a number of weeks has been hurting when I put weight on it.I am very active.I weight lift and play football.For weight lifting I did not go over board to injur it, but during football with all of the footwork we do, it really bothers me.I dont think it is sprained, or broken, but i am not a doctor.

What Causes Ankle Pain?
Hello, As this sounds be instability of the ankle joint. Ligament weakness and muscle imbalances may lead to recurrent ankle pain while in sports. Doing balance board training will help improve the stability of the ankle joint and also improve muscle imbalances. While playing sports please use ankle brace to control the stability of the joint.
