What Causes Annoying Sound In The Ears Early In The Morning?

Every morning for three weeks now I've woken up with an annoying noise in my right ear that sounds like a rubbery creaking ever time that I move/clench my jaw, move my head or swallow. It can take a while to ease in the morning before it goes, but it returns every morning. I've tried cleaning my ears but to no avail. What is this? It's driving me mad.

Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

The discomfort you perceive is due to blocking and opening of the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear). In the supine position there is increased blood flow towards the head end causing congestion in the nose and the nasal end of the Eustachian tube. If you are sleeping inside an air-conditioned room, the congestion increases manifold.

Do not worry! This is a simple problem. Once you wake from the bed, use saline nasal spray followed by steam inhalation. This will reduce your ear related problems. Drink plenty of warm water, avoid chilled food and beverages for few days till your symptoms subside.

Regards
