What Causes Appetite Loss After Fever?

My three year old son had a fever 103.8 fever under arm, on Sunday. No other symptoms...besides loss of appetite and seemed to be very pale. The fever has reduced day by day and being Tuesday it is still low grade under arm at 99.9 and he is still pale and still not eating. We also noticed that his neck glands are very swollen. He has an apppointment today they think it may be strep. What do you think?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. The most common diagnosis in pediatrics, in the presence of fever, is a viral illness. These typically resolve in their own after a few days. They can also cime with swollen glands. That the fever has been coming down day by day makes Strep throat less likely and viral illness more likely. However, you are doing the right thing by seeing the doctor today. This will lead yo the correct diagnosis and treatment plan.
