my son aged about 8 yrs has understanding problems, attention deficit problems likes only english, not maths, slow to write and writes big instead of small cannot interact properly with children his age, is fearful of teachers but behaves normally with us as parents.we have not been able to mix him with his peer group children due to frequent transfers please suggest methods for improving his social skills, improve his memory to a great extent., improve his response skills in school so that he is able to have good education
Hi, Thanks for asking. If such a patient comes in my office I would like to assess him for ADHD, social skills, IQ and learning disability. Her may require medications for attention deficit. For improving his social skills you can try playing social games with him. Make cards with 10 social situations written on it and play with him. He has to tell the right way to respond in such a condition. Also you can do role play with him and model how to behave in such conditions. As his attention will improve his memory will also improve.
