What Causes Bacterial Bronchitis With Heaviness In The Chest?
I have been battling bacterial bronchitis for a month now. I went to 2 different doctors and first one prescribed a zpack and then I had to go to a er because I was still having problems and that doctor said I needed a stronger antibiotic. I took that last dose last week and I am stool not well. I wake up at night choking and not able to breathe, I have to cough until I can get the mucus to come up. Is this normal to be sick so long. I also have a heaviness between my upper abdomen and chest.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Chest x ray 2. PFT (pulmonary function test). There are two possibilities in your case. 1. Lung infection (pneumonia) 2. Chronic bronchitis. So chest x ray is needed to rule out pneumonia. And PFT is needed to diagnose chronic bronchitis. PFT will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment is based on severity only. So PFT is must. You may required inhaled bronchodilators. Haphazard use of antibiotics should be avoided as it will lead to delayed recovery and increase in drug resistance. So better to consult pulmonologist and first diagnose yourself and start appropriate treatment.
