Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My almost 2 yr old son is peeing normal amounts, but it has started smelling like an old person s pee. He also hasn t had a real BM in a few days. He doesn t have a fever and is acting normally. I can see he sometimes is trying to have a BM, but I change him and there is nothing there, despite stinking like he did.
Hi. Thank for your query and information. Noted that your 2 year old son is having small in the poop and pee like of an adult and feels like he has passed motion but when you change, there is no stool but the smell of it. This indicates that he is passing flatus/'gases and is suggestive of sub-clinical form of enteritis. The relative dehydration can cause the pee also to smell due to over-concentration. I would advise you the following: Keep under observation. Send the sample of stool and urine for check-up if possible. If positive get him treated. Also observe which foods or beverage is causing or enhancing the problems. I hope this answer help you.
