I gave a bad taste in the back of my throat and can t really taste anything other than sweet or pickled. This started 2 weeks ago. I do have GERD and am no longer taking Nexium but controlling it with diet and aloe. I have been off PPIs since Feb. 2014. Thank you.
hello, You may have some oral complications such as an oral yeast infection or dental related infection. Make sure you are up to date in your dental exam and cleaning. Do you have a coating on your tongue, soreness with your limited taste? This could be a fungal infection and avfungal infection can require prescription treatment such as Nystatin. Acidopholus and probiotics can be a good preventive measure especially with your gastric complication history. Do your consider diet adequate to reduce your gastric acid? This may be a factor as well, if not really under control. Dental infections can be related to your symptoms. Periodontal health may be a concern if you have not had a recent cleaning. Keep well hydrated and practice good daily dental care. A good diet with balanced vitamins is recommended. A basic physical with blood testing can check for systemic disorders or imbalances. More details would allow for a more detailed diagnosis, I hope that my suggestions are helpful and thank you for your inquiry.
