What Causes Baldness In A Child?

i have a query about a 5 year old girl who happens to be the daughter of my cousin. she is bald by birth. both her parents have the same problem. my cousin is in a consanguinous marriage relation with his wife and both of them suffer from baldness since childhood. The problem is that in our particular setup and the fact that she is a girl, we are very concerned about her. she is otherwise normal but we feel that this condition may be detrimental to her psychologically and socially as she grows up. is there any real chances of a successful remedy? i would appreciate if you could guide me

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Since this is an inherited condition, chance of successful therapy is less. Still, you can discuss with a dermatologist expertized in hair transplantation, although this may not be feasible, as for other causes of hair loss. Cosmetic manipulation with artificial hair / wigs is a reasonable option.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
