Yes, I have a special needs child with multiple conditions , he is 16 but mentally 2 or 3 yrs of age, he don t speak much I am not sure if it is do to his autism or his swalling problems which he has been looked at that and it is on going, the last 6 to 8 months now his behavior is awful he hits me bits me kicks me , like a 2 yr old tatrum, he is 6 0 270, he has had many surgies since he has been born, mostly ears, but he did have leg surgery at the Chicago shriners hospital, I thought it would have help with his walking, but it now appears to me made it worse, he is now hurting himself by banging his head and bitting himself if he cant other s, do u think it is horomones or something changing in the brian it s self?

Hello
Welcome here.
Behavioral problems are very common in children who are intellectually disabled.

However, i would advise you to go for his MRI brain to rule out a brain pathology.

Drugs like carbamazepine and risperidone work well in controlling such behaviours.

I would suggest you to visit a psychiatrist.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
