What Causes Behavioral Changes And How To Rectify It?

Its about my mother she is 51yr old and there r some disastrous changes in her behavior. Its been more then 5yrs we r seeing her like this. She was normal before. Now she started speaking alot she speak for hours like 5-6 hrs non-stop. She is too much in Pooja n stuff n she thinks my dad do black magic on her to kill her cz she have some powers n dad having a affair (according to my mother). She see a dream n fight abt it in morning till the night. She doesn t understand that if dad even wanted to gt married to someone else he would have done that. Y he ll wait for years for her to die.? We do everything she want us to do, we let her do what ever she like to. But still condition is getting worse. She only do Pooja day n night and fight. She doesn t talk nicely with anyone in our family(whole family including her brothers) bt she is nice with outsiders. We r not able to understand what to do. What is wrong with her? How can she be normal again? Please help

Psychiatrist 's  Response
It is clear from your description that your mother is suffering from a mental illness, either Delusional Disorder or Schizophrenia. In either case, reasoning with her will not be of much use. It is better not to oppose her or argue with her as long as she is not hurting herself or anyone else.
You should take her to a psychiatrist. She will benefit from anti-psychotic medicines.
In my practice, I have often seen marked improvement in such patients with anti-psychotic medicines.
Hope this answer helps you.
