What Causes Big Lumpy Painful Spots?
Why am I getting big, lumpy, painful spots ? They seem to have an on off pattern, they come for three or four days then disappear for a similar time. They are extremely painful and when I pick them, they splash on the mirror - the picked spot is then followed with bleeding. I have had antibiotics but to be honest the doctor didn t have much time to fully examine, he was late with appointments and didn t allow me to fully explain.

Abscess are deep bacterial infections.
In simple terms bacteria infect our body and destroys tissue.
This destroyed tissue forms pus and a collection of pus anywhere in body is called as abscess.
Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests.
Abscess must be drained and pus should be subjected to tests to find out which bacteria is causing it and to which antibiotic the bacteria is sensitive.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
