What Causes Black Bruises On The Thoracic Vertebrae?

My wife and I noticed what appears to be unexplained, non-painful, black bruises along left side of approximately 3-4 thoracic vertebrae of our 11 year old daughters back. We noticed them about a month ago, and appear unchanged. She doesn t recall anything that could ve caused it. She is diagnosed mild Asbergers and prescribed 20mg Adderrall XR and 10mg Abilify daily. We recently moved out of state for work and don t have new Dr. yet....What could these bruises be and what could ve caused them?
