MY DAUGHTER HAS TYPE 2 DIABETES. ABOUT A YEAR AGO HER DOC TOLD HER IT WAS UNDER CONTROL. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT , A MONTH AGO SHE UNDERWENT THROMBOSIS SURGERY. ALL BUT ONE OF HER TOES IS NOW MOSTLY BLACK. THE DOC IS TELLING HER IT IS A WAITING GAME NOW. WILL THE SKIN GROW BACK OR IS A BETTER FOR HER TO GET PREPARED TO LOSE THEM?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of black discoloration, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with SPF more than 30. 2. Apply a kojic acid cream like kojivit twice daily on it. 3. Take a vitamin b12 supplement once daily for 3 months.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
