What Causes Black Mucousy Diarrhea?

my son has had black mucousy diahrrea for 24 hours but his last nappy change he had what looked like thin bits of brown paper amongst his stool - these were about an inch wide and long but extremely thin (almost transparent). not sure what this is and i am extremely worried.
