What Causes Black Phlegm During Cough?

For almost a year every time I cough up my spit I will see black cloudy stuff in my spit. It only happens sometime like whenever it wants to show up. I don t smoke at all. I am worried that it is something more dangerous. Please respond back as soon as possible. If you need more information please contact me at my email. Thank you.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray first. As black phlegm can be seen in
1. Long standing haemoptysis.
2. Fungal infection.
3. Coal particles in trachea etc.
So better to first rule out with chest x ray.
And if x ray is normal than get done bronchoscopy and lavage fluid analysis for above mentioned causes.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and bronchoscopy and discuss all these.
