What Causes Black Smelly Stools With Nausea, Fatigue And Sore Throat?

I just had a cholecystectomy on the 6th. I am now having black, smelly stools accompanied with nausea. I am exhausted, and by that I mean I feel like the life is being sucked out of me…not typical of me. My throat is sore as well. I don t know if any of these things are related but I need to know if I should go to the emergency room.

Hello,

Black colour stools may be due to upper GI bleeding or intake of dark colour green leafy vegetables or iron tablets consumption or bismuth contain antacids etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tablet pantoprazole.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Get stool examination for occult blood and microscopy.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
