Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Meloxicam is an anti inflammatory medicine that can cause inflammation, erosion and ulceration in the stomach and upper GI tract. Blood would ooze from these and when it comes into contact with the acid become black. The motion can even become like tar. It is better to avoid such NSAIDs and if you need to take it, you need to take other medicines to protect your stomach from the ulcer producing effect of Meloxicam.

Do get back to me if you have further queries.
