What Causes Black Stools And Generalised Weakness?

My brother-in-law has been having black stool and blood for a few weeks now. He feels very weak by times. He went to a hospital and they did keep him in did an xray thought they could see where the blood was coming from. So they gave him an intravenous trasfusion. They then did an upper scope which showed nothing so they were going to send him home until they checked his blood again and found it to be around 80 and decided to give him another transfusion but after that when they checked his blood again it had dropped to 72 so they kept him in but they told him not to worry it was probably just that the saline had diluted the blood to much and proceeded to give him more transfusions. Does this make any sense? Please reply

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The basic issue here is to find the cause of underlying bleeding from intestine.

In our clinic, when upper GI scopy is normal, I recommend to take colonoscopy for best possible evaluative perspectives.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
