What Causes Bladder Incontinence And Burning Sensation In The Vagina?

I am 70 yrs. old and have had two children. The muscles hold my bladder in place are getting weak and starting to fall. I can see my bladder using a mirror. I have no trouble urinating and my urine looks and smells normal. I do go often but I drink a lot of water. I have no pain when going to the bathroom but most of the time Day and night, I have an uncomfortable burning sensation " down there". Wearing jeans is also uncomfortable. My question: Is this a serious condition or can I just live with it? I' m not too interested in having mesh procedure or anything inserted to hold it up that has to be removed and cleaned.

Dear lady,
From what you describe, I can deduce that you have a cystocele. It is a condition where the bladder is slipping and bulging into the vagina. This is often seen in the years after menopause, when the pelvic muscle start to weaken and the connective tissue around that area to loosen.
Cystocele is often associated with incontinence and urinary infections. This is the reason why you have that uncomfortable burning sensation.
This condition is treated depending on the symptoms and depending on its degree.
I would start by treating the infection, and then after assessing the problem, you may need estrogens, a pessary (the one that you expressively didn't want)and lastly a surgery, where the ligaments are attached and the bladder is pulled up again.
I would recommend you to see a urologist and to treat this problem seriously. It would not hurt to have an assessment of the degree of your problem and you also need to receive that antibiotic treatment which you can get only by a doctor's prescription.
I hope I have answered your question!
Wish you health!
