What Causes Bleeding After Sex?

hi. im 19yrs old. i had sex with my boyfriend last 4.19.11 for the first time. it happened twice the same day. there was small amount of bleeding after sex. the we had sex yesterday, 4.24.11, i bled again. is it normal? yesterday was my 3rd tablet-free day.

Thanks for posting your query. The cause of your bleeding after intercourse is the rupture of the hymen after consummation. There is no need to worry about chances of conception, since you are well protected. Avoid further intercourse until the raw area heals well. Do not douche or use strong soap solutions to clean the genital region. Cold compression can help arrest the bleeding. Styptics also can help. If there is no respite, please see your health care provider for further treatment. Hope this helps.
