What Causes Bleeding After Undergoing Tonsillectomy?

I recently had my tonsils taken out and on the 12th day I bled about a teaspoon and the same the next day. It stops within 30min or so but I think I cut it. Is there a chance they have to redo it? I also noticed the side I cut it on is healing much slower then the other side. Will that effect anything?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain bleeding from tonsillectomy site after injury that you have indicated of having cut in the area can be due to traumatic injury..
As in 12 days the wound formed post surgery will not heal completely and minor injury can cause bleeding..
There can also be infection at the site of tonsillectomy leading to bleeding..
So I would suggest you to consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated..
He can advise you to take a short course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers, do warm saline gargles and take a soft diet and preferably more liquids..
Gargle with antimicrobial mouthwash..
