What Causes Bleeding And Cramping Postpartum?

I am 10 weeks postpartum and have been bleeding on and off the last 9 days with cramps. Is this normal what could it be? I have had problems with bleeding since my baby was born and a scan 5 weeks ago showed I still had a few blood clots in my uterus.

Hi,
Retained products can cause prolonged bleeding and sometimes infection if not attended to properly. If no specialist has seen you so far after delivery, please see someone immediately for further care. It is possible that the retained clots may be expelled as the cramps suggest and in the course, further bleeding may ensue. You may need styptics, anti-spasmodics and if needed, an antibiotic also should be given. Please maintain genital hygiene. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you good health.
