My husband noticed blood in his urine last Friday and has not seen it since. He is on warfarin and called his GP who referred him to a urologist. He also takes Tylenol in the evening for arthritis. Could this have caused the blood in his urine. He has been on warfarin for 3 years. He has an appt with the urologist this week.
Hello, Thank you for asking your question at healthcare magic
Since your husband is on warfarin I would like to check his PT/INR(to look for bleeding tedencies) first to rule out warfarin as causing blood in urine. Long term use of tylenol along with warfarin can potentiate the effect of warfarin and increase risk of bleeding. Other causes of blood in urine are ureteric stones. cystitis, prostatitis, urinary tract infection,bladder/kidney cancer etc
I recommend that you consult your doctor to get the evaluation done
Hope I was able to help you, Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
