What Causes Bleeding From The Belly Of My Baby?

I have 15 weeks old baby daughter and I noticed small bit bleeding from her belly button today. What shall I do? Her belly button hasn't healed up yet, yellow drainage still comes up. I was told keep cleaning as long as there is no sign of infection.

Umbilical discharge is quite common problem in neonates and infants.
There could be many cause for discharge from umbilical. Following could be the causes
1. Yellow discharge: It Usually signifies inflammation of Umbilicus known as Omphalitis. It is usually associated with redness of umbilicus and surrounding skin
2. Clear discharge:Clear watery discharge like Urine could be due to patent Urachus
3. Fecal discharge: Patent Vitello-intestinal duct

Diagnosis is simple and depends on examination by experienced Physician.

I would suggest the following
1. Local application of antibiotic like Mupirocin
2. Keep the area clean and dry
