Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your complain, it is true that oral contraceptives can cause
bleeding gums as the oral contraceptives increases the level of
progesterone in the body which in turn can lead to
redness, swelling as well as bleeding of gums.
It happens because increase level of progesterone in the body can lead to increased activity of gums to local irritants like food debris,
plaque and bacteria.
As soon as gums are exposed to it, it can lead to initiation of inflammatory action in gums thus causing redness, swelling and bleeding from gums.
I would suggest you to maintain a very good
oral hygiene .
Brush you teeth twice a day once in morning and once before going to bed at night.
Always gargle with water after each meal.
Warm saline gargles are also effective.
Visit a
dentist every 6 months for regular dental check up to rule out for any deposits on teeth near gums which can cause
gum inflammation as well as other problems with teeth and surrounding structures.
If you have severe problem you should consult your gynaecologist for the change of medicine.
Note: IF YOU GO TO DENTIST OR ANY OTHER GENERAL DOCTOR TELL ABOUT TAKING ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES AS FEW MEDICINES LIKE ANTIBIOTICS CAN REDUCE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES.
All the best..
Thanks and regards..
