What Causes Bleeding In The Ear?

I was cleaning my ear with q-tip and may have went a little to far in because when I pulled out the q-tip there was blood on it. It is still bleeding but not dripping out but if I put toilet paper or a q-tip back in it there is still blood present. I can still hear fine and it is just a little sore but no major pain. Did I do any damage and should I seek medical attention?

hi

Welcome in HCM.

I understand your concern and it appears as you have injured your skin of canal wall and as you said your hearing is OK, it means perforation of ear drum is unlikely.

You may rule out the possibility of ear drum perforation by doing walsalva (exhaling air against closed nostril and mouth). During walsalva if air comes out through ear means there is perforation and if not means drum is OK.

It will be better to consult your ENT doctor.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
