What Causes Bleeding Post Sex For The First Time After Myomectomy?

Hi Dr Andrew. I just had fibroids removed on the 28th of last month. I ha myomectomy about 11cm big. Now coming out of hospital and just eating vegetables and fruits, fish and all health diet. So, had my period on the 12th till the 16th. I had sex with my partner and later found out that I was bleeding. It last just for a day. Now, today 18th just went to the loo and used toilet paper and there again. Didn t even realise it. So, is this normal as I am trying to conceive too.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

It has not yet been even a month since the myomectomy and I would recommend a short duration of time without sexual contact to allow your uterus to heal. Leave about a month, without sexual intercourse and strenuous physical activity to help promote adequate healing.

You can then slowly initiate sexual contact and if all goes well, even start trying to conceive.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
