What Causes Blister On Top Of Index Finger?

My husband has a blister like thing on the top of his index finger. It started 3 or 4 months ago, went away & returned, has gotten bigger and is painful if he bumps it. It looks like a blister but is semi firm. He hasn t been bitten by anything as far as he knows. We were wondering if he needs to go to our primary care dr or to a dermatologist.

Hi!! According to your history there are two possibilities: one is herpetic infection which is viral infection and the other is distal blistering dactilyitis which is bacterial infection. For either of the two you will have to consult a dermatologist as he can start the treatment after examining you and performing necessary lab tests if required.
