Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with Tuberculosis. It is ripamifin resistant (as per genexpert test) - still awaiting culture results. Either ways, have started off 2nd line of drugs too. Been 2.5 weeks now. All fine for 1st 2 weeks. Now since 4 days feeling lot of bloating. Having antacids but I think it s organs that have bloated & not gas/acidity?
HI. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history about tuberculosis, rifampicin resistance and hence started on 2nd line of treatment for MDR TB. Noe you have got bloating for the last 4 days after 2.5 weeks of ATT. The causes can be: Changed bacterial flora can cause this . Can be due to GI disturbance caused by medication. There can be abdominal tuberculosis with intestinal obstruction. I would advise you the following: Clinical evaluation, examination and investigations under the guidance of a General Surgeon. X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Ultrasonography. Tests of blood, urine and stool. This will help to find out the cause and get a proper treatment, till then start on probiotics.
