Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my baby is 7 months old, usually healthy. It s a week since he started making stool 6-7 times a day but not watery - normal stool. Yesterday we saw that he had mucus and blood strips in his stool. Stool check showed the following: ROTA VIRUS NEGATIVE STOOL-DIRECT NO PARASITES FOUND ERYTHROCYTES : +++ LEUKOCYTES : +++ MUCUS +++ What does it mean? Is it dangerous? Thanks in advance!
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. It seems your kid is having acute dysentery. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry. As there is blood in the motion there is need for antibiotics. I suggest you use zinc supplements & ORS. For vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron 0.15mg/kg/dose thrice a day, 30minutes before feeds. But kindly see your pediatrician for advice on antibiotic usage. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
