Had the flu this last Sunday...nausea, diaherra, stomach cramping...after the diaherra finished, in the wee hours of Monday I started to have pink/red mucous blobs streaming instead of the diaherra. I continued to have this mucous blood blobs until this afternoon. I am worried. I am 63, female, diabetic and still actively running a landscape store. I am run from constipated to normal stool most of the time. note: there is a flu bug with many of these symtons going on in our area.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of having flu last Sunday and is going on in the area you stay. You are 63 and run a landscape store. You have developed nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramping. But on Monday developed pink/red mucus blobs until this afternoon. The cause may be: Severe inflammation of the colon, may be with secondary infection. I would advise you the following: Get the stool and blood tested. As per the reports you may be given an antibiotic and metronidazole. Take probiotics and activated charcoal tablets. Keep yourself hydrated and watch for any weakness. You may also need electrolyte solution.
