I think I had a blood boil on the top side of my finger where the nails grows straightforward. I was painful to touch and bump the area and it hurt to bend my finger. I figured it was infected because of the swelling. I ended up just cutting off the whole thing. After cutting it I ran it in some warm water, dried, and clean it was hydrogen peroxide. I then put Vaseline on it and bandaged it up. I want to know if this was an okay thing to do.
Hi and welcome to HCM Since the wound is clean and you don't mention any pus or discharge, it seems it will heal well. But I would advise you not to use the Vaseline as the layer will prevent it from drying out and healing. Just apply an antiseptic ointment and loosely bandage it. Keep it dry and will heal soon. In case you notice any new swelling, or pus or bleeding, get it checked and cleaned in case you need antibiotic course. When you clean it, jus clean with antiseptic solution and water. No need to use hydrogen peroxide on a clean wound. Hope this helps.
