Hi, My partner was lying down and felt somthing run out of his ear which was blood. It is not running fluidly but seeping now, it has been happening for around 20minutes now, there is no pain and no pus, just blood. He said it feels like something needs to pop . should he go to the medical centre now or should we monitor it?
The most common cause of bleeding from ear without pain but with history of feeling of need to pop something in ear indicates that there is fluid build up in middle ear that caused no pain but yet ruptured the eardrum causing blood to sip out. Self cleaning also can cause bleeding from ear. Yes, take him to the nearby medical centre for clinical examination to know the exact status. Get started with an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant. Do not self clean. You can insert a sterile gauze pack if need be. Continue the medications till completely cured. Take second opinion of an ENT Surgeon to be sure about diagnosis and have additional proper management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
