What Causes Blood Disorders?
My ex-husband is told repeatedly that he doesn t have enough red blood cells and continues to need transfusions. He is not healthy - 3 open heart surgeries, many arterial stents, - what could be the root cause of the blood disorder? He doesn t have anyone at the doctor with him, and he is confused most of the time. I m trying to help our (grown) children understand what might be wrong.

Anemia is common in Heart patients due to Mechanical destruction occur within the blood due to cardiac valves, intra-arterial stents and stent grafts.
These patients need blood transfusion in severe anemia because anemia increase mortality chances in cardiac patients.
So he need transfusion due to increased destruction of red blood cells.
