What Causes Blood During Bowel Movement And Abdominal Pain?

When I went to the bathroom to have a bowl movement, there was blood along with the bowl movement. I had cramps when I went, then I went again about an hour later and there was more blood. That was yesterday and now today when I had a bowl movement everything seemed normal except that I have pain in my abdomen.

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Abdominal pain and blood in stool most often is due to colitis. Since you have not mentioned your age and about any medical illness you have, I cannot comment on the other possible causes.

You need to undergo colonoscopy to look for the source of bleeding.
Consult your gastroenterologist for this test.

I hope that answers your question.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
