What Causes Blood In Split?

Hi, I am 25 years old. I had cough for few months. I have now stopped coughing but I see blood in my spit in the mornings. Could someone please explain what this could be? I am currently taking Proton pump inhibitors to reduce the gastric trouble i'm having. Thanks..
