Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Blood In Stool While On Glimepiride And Lisinopril?
What can cause a positive for blood in the stool test when it has not been obvious? This person has very recently been diagnosed with diabetes. One fasting test was done. Number was 251. Cholestoral was 185, blood pressure 128/64. BP usually runs lower, sometimes 90/60. Glimepiride 4 MG daily, Metformin HCl, 500MG twice daily, Lisinopril 10 MG tablet daily, and Atorvastin Calcium 40 MG daily. Metformin caused severe diarrhea and was dropped to 1 tablet; then to 1/2 tablet. I am afraid to give the lisinopril for fear of dropping the BP too low.
Hi, I understand your concern regarding the continuation of the blood pressure medicine Lisinopril. I will not advise to stop Lisinopril altogether. Look,if his BP comes down to 90/60 mm hg then you can reduce the dose of Lisinpril to 5 mg and then check whether his blood pressure is within range. I hope I answered your question. Thanks, Dr.Prabhas Verma
