What Causes Blood In Stool?

I suddenly started cramping and then had to urgently use the restroom and there was a lot of blood in my stool. Bright red. Then about 10 minutes later-same thing. This has now happened 4 times in the last 45-60 minutes... Any idea on what could cause that?

Hi. Thanks for being with us in hcm. I am Dr.Aliem, and I am pleased to answer your query. Abdominal cramps followed by bloody stools may be due to infection of your bowel. I suggest that you consult your physician, who may order a stool test for you to detect for ova/cysts and prescribe some antibiotics and probiotics for you. That will settle your problem. Please avoid taking foods outside as far as possible. Avoid spicy foods until you get a complete relief of your symptoms. If the problem persists, consult a gastroenterologist for further evaluation. Hope this helps.
