I have no gallbladder so my stools been soft until 2 weeks ago then sever constipation for a week with bright red blood in stool and then my stools went soft again now for a week soft stool with bright red blood and i have a anul fisher. Could this be the anul fisher acting up?
Hi, Bright red color stool always indicative of bleeding from distal/terminal portion of GIT I.e. from large intestine to anus. In your case,if you are having anal fissure then it could be the reason but the other causes must be ruled out like large bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis, intussuception etc. You may require thoroughly clinical examination with proctoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out any other lower GIT etiologies. You may require antibiotics(quinolones-ofloxacin with antiprotozoals- metronidazole/ornidazole) with topical steroids and antihistamines to prevent bleeding if it is coming from anus otherwise treatment is mainly depend on the underlying cause. Consult general surgeon for further advise immediately. Thanks.
