I am an exchange student and now I found blood in my stool. I have no idea how I am going to deal with this, and I never visited a doctor here. This blood was there since 3 months a few times but only a little bit. Today it was really much blood and I am really scared. Help please!!
hello welcome to hcm i can very well understand your concern well there are many possible causes for presence of blood in the stools .. possible causes includes --
(1) haemorrhoids i.e bleeding piles (2) anal fissure (3) fistula in ano (4) intestinal infections by micro-organisms specially hookworm and amebiasis (5) inflammatory bowel disease specially crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (6) diverticular disease (7) ischemia of the large intestines (8) rupture of varices (9) gastric ulcers (10) intestinal polyps (11) A-V malformation (12) cancer of the colon and rectum (13) angiodysplasia
i would advice you not to waste any time and visit a surgeon or gastroentrologist who would perform a physical and local examination and will get some tests done ,if required, to make a accurate diagnosis and will guide you about the most appropriate treatment options for curing the underlying disease i hope you shall find this information to be helpful take care hcm..
