What Causes Blood In Stool?

My 19 yr old daughter is experiencing anal bleeding when she poops. It has happened once before about six months ago. She went to Shands e.r. and they said it was nothing to worry about. She just had another episode with larger pieces and of course is worried. I asked her to go back tomorrow and have it checked again. What could be causing this at her age?

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. I am sorry to hear about this issue. The most probable things going on is that she is constipated and therefore has anal fissures which bleed and rebleed each time she has a bowel movement. She needs to increase her fluid intake and also incorporate more fruits and vegetables in her diet. She can also buy over the counter still softeners. I hope this helps you. Good luck and thank you for your question.
