Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband had an incident back about 6 months ago where he had a lot of red blood come out during a bowel movement. In the last week he is have bad stomache cramps and a small amount of blood in his stools.I dont know if the two incident are related.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your husband and understood your concerns. Certainly yes. Both the incidences might have been correlated. Blood in stool and cramps are suggested an acute problems as the hemorrhoids are painless and fissure-in-ano is always superficial. Hence it must be something deep within for which I would suggest the following: Ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy is a must in such a patient. Also get the blood and stool checked. CT can of the whole abdomen. This will give hte most proper diagnosis and a proper plan of treatment. If this is an infective pathology. a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole will cure his problem. If there is something that is surgical, he will need a good preparation and proper surgery to get the disease out and proper followup till cured.
