My son's age is 2 years 7 months. Today some blood will occur with his stool and till now it is 5 times. I have contact over phone to Doctor (child specialist) and he told a medicine 'ZANOCIN-50mg' does 5ml. two times. My son takes one does at 8:00pm but after taking does further 3 times we have seen blood. As Today is sunday, no one doctor is available now. Could you please advise what I will do?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your son of 2 years and 7 months and understood your concerns. Blood in stool in a child of this age is usually due to intestinal infection, colitis in particular. Zanocin is a drug of choice and continue on this medications. ALso give him MEtronidazole, probiotics. ALso needed is to send the stool and blood sample for tests to get details. If this does not help, he shall need an examination, pediatric colonoscopy and biopsy if needed. Get the proper consultation of a Pediatrician the moment he is available so that a proper evaluation, examination and treatment will be possible.
