What Causes Blood In Urine Along With Abdominal Pain And Vomiting?
My father is 81 years old. Very early this a.m. he was passing blood in his urine. not just dribbles but lots. Around noon today he began experiencing stomach pain (severe) and vomiting. My mom finally took him to ER where his BP was 177/181. When they took a urine sample in the ER they said there were bubbles in the urine that disguised the blood that was present there. He is back home and they gave him a script for a nausea med. He has been sleeping comfortably since 4:30p. He has been sleeping on his belly as he says he doesn t have as much pain in that position. Any ideas what is causing this?
Blood in urine along with pain and vomiting is possibly due to ureteric stones or pyelonephritis (infection of the kidney). Urine analysis and culture, Xray/CT scan of kidney, ureter, bladder is required. Please be advised to follow up with the urgent care for the necessary evaluation. Initiation of antibiotics for pyelonephritis is important to prevent complications.
