The blood in urine is definitely an alarming symptom/sign. It can be due to: 1. Severe urinary infection: Usually it causes frequency of urination with burning. Microscopic urine examination will reveal this. In such cases, better get the urine examined for culture and sensitivity. This test reveals which organisms are infecting and they are sensitive to which antibiotics. Accordingly the antibiotics will be prescribed by your doctor. 2. Heavy crystals in the urine or urinary stone. The indication will be seen in urine examination and can be confirmed by ultrasonography. Please avoid x-ray during pregnancy. Usually they are oxalate crystals. If so, drink plenty of water. Your doctor will give you urinary alkalinisers which dissolve these crystals. However, this condition causes colicky pain. 3.
