My doctor told me that there is a lot of blood in my urine however, she gave me some meds that only worked for a period of time. Now when I urinate my urine seems red and whenever I use a piece of tissue I see a lilm slimmy trace of blood. Can you tell me what. Could cause that please?

Hi,
I am sorry that the medicines could not solve your problem.
Since urinary tract infection is a common cause of blood in urine, you could have been probably treated with some antibiotics.
However, there are other causes of blood in urine e.g. stones, tumors, kidney diseases etc.
In order to guide you properly, I need some more information.
1. Your age and sex.
2. Duration of this problem; any associated symptoms - pain while passing urine, flank pain, increased frequency, urgency etc.
3. Any medical conditions or previous surgeries.
4. Details of the medicines you were prescribed and any other medicines you had been taking previously.
5. Complete details of your urine report
The next step will be to get an ultrasonogram done to look at your kidneys, ureters (tube connecting kidney with bladder) and bladder. Meanwhile, take lot of fluids.
I hope I have answered your query.
I am available to guide you further once you get back to me with the above mentioned details.
Wish you a quick recovery and good health,
Dr. Raguram.
