What Causes Blood In Urine?

I had a turp procedure 3 weeks ago. There has been blood in urine during every urination. I have followed Doctors instructions. No constipation, no full bladder, no lifting, care when sitting etc. I can clearly see the bottom of the toilet bowl, but the urine is too dark. Stream starts out fairly red, then clears in 2-4 seconds. I checked my preop blood tests and noticed most values were less than recommended ranges. Platlet count, coagulation rates, etc., were not up to par. The surgery went ahead anyway. Could deficiency in my blood be part of the issue, or do I just need to wait longer? Would vitamin K help?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.
Within 2-3 days after a TURP, there should be no bleeding, after which catheter is removed. By 4th -5th day, person is home, passing clear urine.
Confirm your biopsy report shows, normal enlargement of prostate gland, and no cancer is reported. All reports must be with you. As you've mentioned, your blood reports are not normal, you may send them to me for an expert opinion, as a direct question, in my name.Drink 8-10 glasses fluids daily.

Urologist Dr. Dr. P. T. Patil's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .

You have undergone surgery of TURP for enlarged prostate 3 weeks ago and now getting blood in urine (Hematuria).

The hematuria 3 weeks after TURP is common and is due to following fact .

During TURP surgery Urologist resects Prostate in pieces that creates a raw area at the site of resection. During process of healing this raw area is covered with a protective layer called as Scab ,This scab starts separating as the underlying raw area heals up and shades off. This separation of scab from the underlying raw area gives little oozing of blood from prostate bed that causes mild hematuria .

There is nothing to be worried about.Hematuria will stop once all the scab gets shade off.
.
Ensure to drink more water and take antibiotic Norfloxacin for a week .
It is bound to get resolved .
