Hello and thank you for consulting HCM.
What causes blood in urine? Let me explain it step by step. Blood cells aren't found in urine normally. But there are a lot of reason for your condition.
-
Urinary tract infection is a possibility. Usually has symptoms like these:Burning sensation while urinating, urge to urinate, change of the color of the urine, heavy smell of urine and can be treated easily with antibiotics but need to be confirmed with a urine test/culture.
-problems with
prostate (in males) can give blood in urine, especially if it is an enlarged one. An
ultrasound here can confirm the diagnosis
-
kidney conditions (kidney stone,
cyst,
tumor ect) ultrasound will help for diagnosis
-ureteral stone,or stones in bladder can also cause blood in urine. ultrasound for diagnosis
-conditions of the bladder, tumor of the bladder.
So to be able to say for sure why there is blood in your urine,we need to do some tests. Urine test and ultrasound of your urinary tract.
Till the moment you do these tests, i suggest you have plenty of liquids 2-3 liters in 24 h. Don't hold your urine,go at the bathroom as soon as you have the feeling to urinate. Drink 1 or 2 cups of rose tea,or chamomile tea.
If the amount of blood keeps increasing in your urine you need to check up with a doctor as soon as possible. What i mean is that if your urine from reddish changes like its only blood, you need to go to the ER and not wait for it to change color again.
